Textiles & Botanical Art
I am a Textile designer and Botanical artist, always inspired by the natural world and it’s beautiful colour palette and patterns; my artworks range from intricate Botanical illustrations to loose, flowing, floral designs.
Having grown up and studied in South Africa, travel led me to Melbourne, where I now live with my family.I have worked in many areas of the textile industry; included in this has been swimwear, lingerie, fashion, corporate wear, interiors and bed linen.
The discovery of botanical art became an extension of my textile working career, as my focus has always been traditional medium and my passion for detail and how plants are composed has come to the fore. I've studied botanical art extensively over the years through Jenny Phillips School of Art as well as through the botanical gardens, including classes with Terry Napier to further develop my nature skills. My artwork has been seen at the Royal Botanical Gardens biennial exhibitions in 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016 as well as the Eucalypt Exhibition in 2011 and Nature in Art Exhibition R.B.G Melbourne 2013 & 2015.
I teach at R.M.I.T. University Melbourne, in the Textile and Fashion Department, lecturing on floral drawing and painting in different techniques and mediums for design. I also run water colour and ink workshops.
I now work as a Textile Design Manager for a retail company. I continue to paint for upcoming Botanical exhibitions, if you are interested in further information about where to see my work, please contact me.
